The road to the driving license

After registering with the driving school, you have to apply for the driving license at the nearest local government office. For this procedure you will need:

• proof of registration from the driving school
• an eyesight test certificate (from any optometrist or oculist)
• a course certificate in "life-saving emergency measures"
• a biometric passport photo
• your passport

If you hold a foreign license, please take along:

• a certified translation of driving license (best done at ADAC)
• driving license

You can start training on the day of registration. Training finishes when the test is successfully completed at the TÜV (the authority responsible for doing the exams).
In the unlikelihood of the practical test having to be repeated, we will NOT reimburse you the basic fee.

Two-wheel-education

Class A - Motorbike

Theory:

18 double lessons of theoretical tuition are legally obligatory. In case you extend your driving license type A you only need 10 theoretical lessons.

Practical:

Driving lessons:
The number of driving lessons you need to take depends on your driving ability.

Special driving lessons:
12 special driving lessons are obligatory; 5 outside built-up areas, 4 on the Autobahn, 3 in the dark

In case you received your class 3 before April 1st 1980 you only need 6 special driving lessons.

Practical training takes place Mo to Sa by appointment.
The theoretical and practical training can, if you wish, run parallel and be finished, at best, in 14 days.

Class B - Car

Theory:

14 double lessons of theoretical tuition are legally obligatory.  If you extend your driving license only 8 are needed.

Practical:

Driving lessons:
The number of driving lessons you need to take depends on your driving ability.
Special driving lessons:
12 special driving lessons are obligatory; 5 outside built-up areas, 4 on the Autobahn, 3 in the dark

Driving lessons take place Mondays to Saturdays by appointment only

The theoretical and practical training can, if you wish, run parallel and be finished, at best, in 14 days.

How to change your foreign driving license

If you are a holder of a foreign driving license (outside of the EU) and you have been staying in Germany for more than six months or intend to do so, you´ll need to apply for a German driving license in order to be allowed to carry on driving.

In order to get the license, you have to pass a theory test and a driving test. This means that you have to register with a driving school.

The questionnaires for practicing the theory are available in English, either for purchase or study at our driving school. The questions are exactly the same as the ones that you will get in the theoretical exam. The theoretical test has to be done at the TÜV during their office hours.
The driving test will take 45 minutes. This practical exam takes place in the car of the driving school.

The Road to change the Foreign Driving License (B)

Driving License with 17...

The correct legal term for driving license at the age of 17 years is actually " accompanied driving 17". This means that you are already allowed to drive a car at the age of 17 as long as you are driving in the company of a suitable person.

The accompanying person will be officially noted in the driving license. This person, a parent or somebody else, has to be at least 30 years old, be in the possession of a driving license since at least 5 years and must not have collected more than 3 points in the Central Register of Traffic Violation.

The earliest date to start this kind of training is 6 months prior to your 17th birthday. 3 months before the 17th birthday you can do the theoretical exam. The earliest date to be admitted to the practical exam is 4 weeks before your 17th birthday.

Reissuing a license

After the withdrawal of your license, we will help you to get your license back.

The process of recovering your license (officially: new released) can be completed within a week, after you have submitted your documents to the Traffic department (Straßenverkehrsamt).
